Lousy KLCC Twin Tower Guards Who Don't Know How To Use Metal Detectors.

A sunny morning. Surprises awaits me in the future. A Wednesday. We went to the Parliament House! Not so many pictures... No pictures of the interiors.... only the exteriors.

If you do recall going to government or semi-government places, they have a small door-less frame, called... The Metal Detector, where if you go through it with a metal item in your pocket, the door-less frame beeps. And them the guards will come to check you, and hopefully find something dangerous, and slam you down the floor, cuff your hands and bring you into a truck and send you to a lockup. Then sue your pants off just because of a harmless little metal belt.

Well, maybe they won't go that far... I remember my case of humiliation. Four or five years ago, I went to visit the KL Twin Towers. The tickets were free. Before using the lift to get to the bridge, there's a check, for metals. The whole bunch of tourist went before me. I was the last. Then it was my turn. I walked through the metal detector without my wallet or coins or any other metal stuff, confidently. Unfortunately, it beeped. The guard checked me from head to toe, but couldn't find anything metal solid, so he asked me to try again. The door-less frame beeped again. This time he ask me what else is not taken off. So I said my belt and I showed it to him. Then for no reason, he ask me to take it off. I said "What?! Here?" He said with an annoying look,"Yes." I saw another kind of metal detector, a hand held device that detects metal at specific spots. So I asked him to use that instead. He didn't want to and insist I take off my belt in public. The rest of the tourists were waiting in the lift, watching the whole process. Hey! What did a 15 year old kid do to deserve public humiliation? But still, being a 15 year old has not much knowledge or power at hand... so I took it off and went through the detector again... and it didn't beep.

Wasn't much of a good experience, only 74 or 77 floors above land, and limited view of the surroundings caused by the two towers blocking at both ends. Plus, I just got publicly humiliated. KL Tower is much better and much higher than that lousy bridge. KL Twin Towers, the pride of Malaysia??? With that kind of service and that kind of lousy guards attitude, I seriously doubt it. And the guard who asked me to take my belt off, was a Malay.

I've mentioned above about visiting Parliament House. Yes, it's another boring place. It's made public and everyone can go in with the proper attire, and no metal items on your body. And since it's sooooo boring, no one bothers. But one thing's interesting, that is, its structure. It amazes many with its marble wall and pewter-crafted frame behind the Speaker's seat. The roof of the meeting hall is one of its kind, one word - unique. I won't tell you how it looks like though. If you wanna know, go see for yourself. Then you won't blame me for spoilers. Haha.

If there's one thing I hate about museums, is those staff who likes to act boss when they see uniform wearing students, telling you to not take pictures, not to touch around and so on. After our visit to the Parliament, we went to the Police museum, where they really act boss and treat us like 12 year olds, despite our size. It's really a no wonder that the police museum is not even in the list when Malaysia has it's "Visit Malaysia 2007" campaign. Damn lousy place.
